Coffee Anyone? Same Time, New Place!

So the phone rings and your girlfriend wants to “have coffee” with you. That usually means, “I need to talk to you about something, pick your brain about it, and I’m hoping you’ll tell me what to do!” All you heard was, “You…me…coffee…”

Aaaahhh…mmmm… You can smell the coffee now; you savor the buzz of friendships all around the coffee shop and the excuse to eat a delicious muffin (Okay, it’s low fat and tasteless, but it’s somewhat of a “social coffee food!”) You promptly answer, “Sure. Same time, same place?”

Now hold on there! Why “same place”? Why same old, same old? Hey, wouldn’t it be fun to add a little flair to your quality coffee time with your dear friend by going somewhere new, somewhere with some character or even some history? After all, isn’t that what it’s all about? Making memories and sharing laughter, tears, shock; it’s reality happening over “coffee.” Don’t you think it would make some of your times together more memorable or special or just plain old fun if you met somewhere different, at least on occasion?

Sit and sip other coffee textures and flavors. Sit at a table with a different view. Taste old world delicacies instead of the same old low fat, marionberry muffin! Expand your social environment! Discover places to go and talk or reminisce or just “hang,” places that can color your world! Sometimes we get caught in a rut, going to the same places all the time, and that can bring dullness to “normalcy,” wouldn’t you agree?

So spice up your “coffee time” with your good friends at a European café somewhere downtown; get the feel of being in a different country, perhaps eating some baklava with a cup of café du jour! Taking time to enjoy the new atmosphere and savor the new tastes before you delve into the long awaited “I need you” conversation with your friend will add some fun and will surely brighten your “routine” day!

You can be refreshed and your spirit renewed simply by experiencing a new environment, even if you’re only there to share “coffee time” with someone you love. Breaking out of the old and delighting in new places with old, new, or just good friends can help bring a whole new perspective to life. Just getting out of the ordinary and going somewhere different with your friend can clear your head and may even help you give her the best advice she ever received from you!

So venture out! Go to that little French café you’ve always wanted to visit and experience coffee in a whole new way! I’ll take some French flair with that and yes, of course, I’ll have some baklava, too!
